Episode Six of the Six-Gun Justice podcast features Paul Bishop and Richard Prosch pitting the original 3:10 to Yuma (1957) against the 2007 remake, and dipping their toes into Wild Wild West, Legend, Brisco County, Jr. and the beginnings of the steampunk sub-genre.
Thanks Paul and Richard for giving a shout out to COYOTE’S PEOPLE (and my other humble efforts) on the latest podcast. As ever I very much enjoyed the podcast. I agree with you in that I prefer the original TTTY to the re-make. It was sadly predictable that the re-makers would want to substitute action for the tension of the original. I also thought they made a mistake in shifting the emphasis from the good guy and watering down his character. Van Heflin was tremendous, IMHO, as the conflicted rancher, while Christian Bale’s character was sometimes more like an innocent by-stander. But that’s the kind of fun debate these podcasts stir up!ReplyDelete
