  2. Great show guys! Thanks for the insights into the books you discussed. I can see I need to add several titles to my "Wanted" dodgers. Looking forward to future episodes and conversations. Head'em up and move'em out!

  3. Paul and Rich, you guys did an outstanding job with your first official podcast, and I am honored to have been a part of it. I loved the critique you did of my book, The Sons of Philo Gaines. Rich nailed it! You can bet that I'll be back for more.

  4. Guys, you may or may not know that my good friend, the legendary actor Ben Johnson was trying to get the Cowboy and the Cossack done into a movie. It was one of his favorite western novels. He passed away before he could get anything underway. Ben gave me a copy of the book...awesome.

    1. Ken...I had heard Ben Johnson was involved at some point, but had forgotten so didn't get to mention it on the podcast. Ben Johnson and Glenn Ford are two of my favorite Western actors, but for some reason I envision a tall, lean, rawboned Scott Glenn type character in the role...

    2. You know Scott isn't tall, don't you? He's listed at 6', but he's a little under that. Worked with him on Silverado.

    3. Yeah, but he appers tller because so many action actors are even shorter. In thinking about it Randolph Scott in his prime would have been perfect...

  5. Great Episode # 1 amigos. The Cowboy and the Cossack is one of my all time favorite books. Bought it in a PX in Vietnam while in serving there in 1967-68. Year ago I sent my dog-eared copy to Hallmark Entertainment President Robert Halmi Senior suggesting he develop it as a TV mini-series. He politely returned the book to me with a letter saying he too was a huge fan of the book, but Hallmark simply did not have the means to such a film justice.

  6. Great podcast Paul and Richard. I like the way you guys sound so relaxed and casual and yet you don't wander, you nail the subjects covered very professionally, then move on.
