  1. I would like to point out that Lucky Luke is a Belgian and not a French production. Morris, a Belgian cartoonist developed the character in the 40s, and Gosciny, the French script writer only joined him in the second half of the fifties. Belgium has a rich tradition of Western bandes dessinées to this day, with the best ones being Durango, Bessy, Winnetou and Buddy Longway.

  2. I would like to point out that Lucky Luck is Belgian (like myself) and not French (just like Hercule Poirot used to point out). His inventor was Belgian comic artist Morris, who between 1945 and 1955 was responsible for all the early Lucky Luke novels. He was later joined by script writer Goscinny during the late fifties to bring the series to full fruition until 1977. After Goscinny died, Morris took back sole responsibility for the series again until his own death.
    Best wishes
