Born in 1846, William F. Cody experienced the western
frontier to its fullest. His skill as a buffalo hunter gained him the nickname Buffalo
Bill. One of America’s premier showmen, he traveled the world as the ramrod
of Buffalo Bill's Wild West shows, which established a lasting impression
of the American West as well as being the precursor to what we know today as rodeo...
The Buffalo Bill Museum in Golden, Colorado, is located near
the top of Lookout Mountain where Cody’s grave was place to have a panoramic
view of the plains below. Inside the museum well curated exhibits illustrate
the life, times, and legend of William F. Cody. There are displays pertaining
to Buffalo Bill's early life, experiences as a buffalo hunter, and the Wild
West shows he brough to life. There are firearms displays connected to Annie
Oakley and other sharpshooters who were an integral past of the Wild West shows.
And you’ll also find Native American objects such as Sitting Bull's bow and
arrows, Buffalo Bill's show outfits, Frederick Remington's Portrait of a
Ranch Hand, and many other objects from the connected to Buffalo Bill’s efforts
to bring the West to the world.
